It's Just A Simple "Envytation"

Do you consider your self as a compulsive buyer?

If your answer is yes, then you are putting your self in a mortal danger - just kidding.

If your answer is yes, that means you are human.

I sometimes think of my self as a compulsive buyer; though my buying power is not that powerful (hehehe). But if you come to think of it, compulsive buying is not innate to primates like us. It's the envy, which is innate to human beings, that drives it. It brings out the compulsive-buying attribute in us. Simply because we envy the sexy model who wears it (clothes are best examples). It's so funny though because it won't fit you (hahaha). As matter of fact, models are dressed to look at their best. They're well-blessed - a handsome face and well-toned, and flawless skin (among others). Oh God why is it so? See, it always boils down to envy.

That Thing You Do

I get to wonder sometimes that intimidation plays an important to survive in the platform. Putting yourself in the outfields you get to taste it all. I'm not sure if intimidation is negative or positive now. Perhaps it is both - depending on usage and purpose. Megamind says, "what's the difference between a villain and the super-villain? - presentation".

Anyhow, I see around people do their thing and get to keep everything. Sounds unfair, it's reality? It's a matter of getting-used-to-attitude to survive. I could use some of it now...nah, maybe some other time.

The Morning Habit That Protects Your Brain

When it comes to health tips I personally read RealAge.com to live life to the youngest. You don't have to spend more money to get healhty and fit, hence the internet has so much in it you could track your enemy's whereabouts (hehehe). Anyways, there's this article from RealAge.com that caught my eye I coud not help it but read. According to the artcle, researchers found that caffeine in coffee and tea could cut the risk of glioma by up to 34 percent. How's that for a healthy brain huh! By the way, the article says "glioma is an aggressive, hard-to-treat, and dangerous type of brain tumor."

Shots Taken At Kota Beach Resort In Bantayan Islands

Shots could have been better if taken using DSLR cameras. Oh well, let's be contented with these..

Whole Grains Everyday For A Healthier Smile?

We already know that whole grains help make our hearts and our blood sugar healthier. And research on people with diabetes has found that lower blood sugar levels may mean lower gum disease risk, too. I read an article that discusses this. It’s definitely a must-read gum article and here it goes:

What you pick from the bread basket might have an impact on your pearly whites.

You're probably (hopefully) already grabbing the whole-grain goodies for their fiber and nutrition content. But now here's another reason to be choosy: Whole grains may also help defend against gum disease.

How To Make Your Own Solar Cell

I stumbled upon an article on how to make your own Solar panel. I got hooked to it because the process quite simple and doable. So I read along and planned to try it at home.

Here’s some prominent steps on how to make a solar cell right in your kitchen.

Make a solar cell in your kitchen

Our solar cell is made from cuprous oxide instead of silicon. Cuprous oxide is one of the first materials known to display the photoelectric effect, in which light causes electricity to flow in a material.

Thinking about how to explain the photoelectric effect is what led Albert Einstein to the Nobel prize for physics, and to the theory of relativity.

Enough Already

DM,

When can you say that enough is enough - when in fact you do not know when and where to stop? The momentum keeps going and yet pain keeps aggravating. Is it worth it? This is the time when you ask yourself – why am I doing this to myself? After all, this self-inflicting pain you caused to your self is worthless. And, you know that! It’s actually self-awareness that you missed and long forgotten. Keeping one self’s worth is not that easy when you are consciously delivering your self from it. You just kept on ignoring it. You just kept on letting me and others stepped on you. I know I’m one of the many agents who caused you pain but you also have to fight back. You need to claim self-worth. I am saying this because I see that you are of great value. You are essential to our lives. When it rains you are always there to lighten us up. In times of trouble you make us dirt-free - spotless. So what else can we ask for? So don’t make your own self pull you down.

I understand it’s heartbreaking to be stepped on but don’t worry we are on the same boat. Funny it seems but it’s a sorrowful reality.

Looking For A Perfect Summer Getaway

Plans. Plans. Plans.

The scorching heat of the sun calls for a new summer getaway. It's time to make plans and more plans. Been to a lot of summer hot spots around Negros and Guimaras Island and now it's time for Cebu Island.

Bantayan Island here we come!

Bantayan Island is an island in the Philippines located at the western portion of the northern tip of Cebu Island. The island can be reached by ferry from Hagnaya Wharf in San Remigio, Cebu, or from Cebu City, or from Cadiz City in Negros Occidental.

Bantayan is one of Cebu's best-kept secrets. The island has three municipalities, namely: Santa Fe, Bantayan proper, and Madridejos. They say, it is in Santa Fe town where you can find most of the beautiful beaches in the island. Just like the famous Boracay beach resorts, Bantayan boasts its beach main attraction is it's white sands. I must say a perfect summer getaway.

We'll get a ton of load of it when we get there. So, see you around.

BacolodBootleg Features IMO

It's a pleasure to see web sites that feature local bands of Bacolod. As a Bacolodnon, I'm proud to say that Bacolod deserves best bands and I'm very happy to know that one of us compiled Bacolod's popular local bands in one web site.

BacolodBootleg is a video collection of Bacolod's famous local bands. Some of which were taken by the author himself and some were shared by Bacolod bands themselves. That's true Bacolodnons' camaraderie.

As its first featured band, BacolodBootleg hails In memory Of (IMO).

As I see it: Presidential Wannabes (Part 2)

"Talino at Galing". That's the theme of Gibo's campaign ads for 2010 Presidential Elections. I got to see Gibo's interview with Cheche Lazaro in Profiles and I'm quite impressed by the way he delivers his answers and how he deals with sensitive questions and topics. Gibo's answers were quick and clear. Gibo is a realist, as I see it. He can run the country with flying colors. That, of course, remains to be seen.

Who is Sec. Gilbert "Gibo" Teodoro Jr.?

Gilbert "Gibo" Teodoro Jr. is tagged as the political son of Danding Cojuangco. But, Gibo later on resigned from NPC, Danding Cojuangco's political party, and joined Lakas-Kampi.

From Google Chrome Browser to Google Chrome OS

Here's an article I got from webopedia. It talks about the newest Google OS which Google is now brewing for its avid consumers. I think this is good news. It is because (if this goes available, in a matter of time) we would give ourselves a break to the very expensive and indespensible OS in the world - MAC and Microsoft's Windows.

Now There's Google Chrome — the OS

On July 7, 2009, nine months after the Chrome browser was released, Google announced an extension to Google Chrome — the Google Chrome Operating System.

Google Chrome Browser Is Faster

I've been using Google Chrome browser for almost a month now and been impressed on its functionality so far. True to its words, google chrome loads faster compared to both Mozilla's Firefox and Internet Explorer browser. It has a better user-interface and easy-on-the-eye design, too. I like it better than the other browsers.

Google Chrome is...

Fast start-up
Google Chrome launches in a snap.

Fast loading
Google Chrome loads web pages quickly.

Fast search
Search the web right from the address bar.

Are You A Coffee Drinker? Think Again

Beware!!!

A recent study broke down the calorie count of popular coffeehouse beverages. Well, the bad news is, blended beverages (anything other than straight coffee or tea) normally packed with 200 calories or more -- this would be very scary for those who are very conscious with their body figures because drinking blended coffee daily could add 20 pounds to your body weight.

Most of these calories come from sweetened drinks like soda and juice, but blended coffeehouse drinks contribute, too. Imagine cappuccinos, lattes, frappes, smoothies (anything where the barista blends something into your drink).

Grey Digital Cameras

This is probably a new term to you as it is to me. So, read along, this could be useful to you.

While I was surfing the net, I stumbled upon some matches of my searches that talk about Grey Market. It comes out everytime I search on where to best buy digital cameras. So I research more about Grey Market. By definition, a Grey Market is basically the trade of a commodity through distribution channels which, while legal, are unofficial, unauthorized, or unintended by the original manufacturer. In contrast, a black market is the trade of goods and services that are illegal in themselves and/or distributed through illegal channels, such as the selling of stolen goods, certain drugs or unregistered handguns.

Guitar Wars in Infiniti Bar Bacolod

We had a great time last night watching and listening to local bands here in Bacolod. The Guitar Wars, I am assuming, was a showdown or an exhibition of guitar playing, strumming and all that (I don't know what's the right term for that). The Infiniti Bar was filled with bands and enthusiasts in various types. There were those that only play rock; others hum contemporary; some go with Blues while a friend of mine was contented with instrumentals. It was a hard-rocking show. But, it could have been better if only the organizers geared up its promotions. It would have been jampacked.

The Rule of Balance in Photography

Been dreaming of having DSLR, just taking shots of anything. But, I realized I should learn the basics first before investing in an expensive hobby. So I get to read and scan a lot of photography tips, simple guides, as much as possible, from the web. I stumbled upon an article from Digital Photogarphy School (DPS). I usually get valuable information and easy steps from DPS regarding Photography.

They say... one of the most important compositional principle in Photography is 'balance'. It's not like the other rule, the Rule of thirds where you can identify key spots on an image by imagining lines through it. Balance is compositional factor worth considering when framing shots.

As I See It: Presidential Wannabes (Part 1)

Kilala Mo Ba Talaga Sila? That's the title of Probe Team's new branding, Profiles, which tackles the public and private lives of presidential wannabes for the upcoming 2010 Presidential Election.

I think this investigative show, Profiles, is a great venue for us young electorate to know more about the background and qualifications of the men and women who have of course expressed intentions to run for president next year.

Profiles' first installment of the series probes Sen. Manny Villar.
