The Adventures of Kurimaw Dutkom Part I

A short story of an ordinary man.

The scorching heat of the sun produced sweat from Kurimaw's forehead.

"Where the hell am I going to?" He asked to himself.

In this unholy hours of the day Kurimaw's strolling along Lacson St. without knowing where he's headed. He wipes his sweat with his long sleeves while trying to cross the street. He then found himself beside a newspaper stand. He grabs a copy of Sun Star Newspaper and quickly browsed the pages.

Editorial page... No! Obituary... No, not that! There you go Job Ads!

"I can make use of this." He told himself. He paid 8 pesos for the copy.

"Hey, it's 10 pesos per copy!" the old lady shouts with a tiger look in her face. Kurimaw had no choice but to give the additional 2 pesos from his khaki pants. He soon realized that his wallet is missing. He dropped his folders from his hand and he keeps on searching and searching (a body search actually). But he failed to find it. He sits in the gutter for awhile and found his folders and a copy of newspaper. He stands up and walks like a defeated man. Slowly...

"That old hag!" muttered Kurimaw.

"Haay, last chance!" he said to himself while looking at his copy of Sun Star Newspaper.

to be continued...
